With a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 pumping out 620bhp and 607lb ft and only needing to push 1519kg, the Corvette ZR1 was never being to be slow. But few people outside of General Motors could have expected the ZR1 to lap the Nurburgring faster than a Nissan GT-R. Well, the ZR1 has just blitzed the GT-R’s time by nearly four seconds, clocking a 7:26.4 lap time.

Qualifying for today’s Singapore Grand Prix was a close fought affair, with not much more than half a second separating the top nine, and just seven thousands of a second splitting pole and second. Porsche announced last week that it will recall more than 2,200 Carrera and Carrera 4 911s because internal testing indicated the tailpipe could crack and detach from the rear muffler on vehicles with more than 25,000 miles. Affected vehicles include 2012 and 2013 models built between March 7, 2012 and Nov. 12, 2012.
